Joseph C. McArthur, of Kent, Wash., received the 2003 Luther College Brianne Lee Memorial Spanish Award on Saturday, Oct. 11. The Lee Award, the highest honor awarded by the Luther College Spanish Department, recognizes outstanding achievement in undergraduate and graduate studies and honors alumni who have made a commitment to use their skills in Spanish and knowledge of Hispanic culture in their professional lives.

McArthur is a 1988 graduate of Luther College where he was chosen for Kappa Phi Tau honor society in Spanish. He studied in Madrid, Spain, 1986-87, with the Institute in European Studies. He was a member of the 1985 Luther cross-country team that won the NCAA Division III National Championship.

Rahm is from Dubuque, Iowa. Platteville, where she earned a bachelor's degree in business administration, with emphases in marketing and management and a minor in Spanish.
