NewsStand Introduces Advanced Keyword Linking Feature To Enable Unlimited Internet Links in e-Editions
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 11, 2004--NewsStand Inc., the international leader in digital distribution of newspapers and magazines, announced the availability today of Keyword Linking, allowing unlimited access through hotlinks from its e-Editions to Web content. This new feature accelerates the integration of print and Web content for all publications that have an e-Edition and a Web site or other information accessible via the Internet. Publishers can now select an unlimited number of words in e-Edition editorial and advertising content to point to specific information on their Web sites.
Adding the Keyword Linking feature is a vital step in NewsStand's comprehensive plan to develop an e-Edition platform that maximizes Web and print content interaction. This step extends the current linking capabilities already available in e-Editions, which activates all Web addresses or e-mail addresses to link between them and any word or group of words specified by the Publisher.
"Feedback from our customers in the United States and overseas led us to develop this Keyword Linking enhancement. Keyword Linking is a new way to connect automatically to the extensive sources available on the Internet," commented Kit Webster, president and chief executive officer of NewsStand. "Publishers may define an unlimited number of 'hot' links within their electronic editions."
Webster provides these examples of how this feature works. If a publisher wishes to associate the words "global warming" with a specific URL housing a special study on the publisher's Web site, NewsStand would make the words "global warming" hot wherever they are found in the e-Edition and would link to that special study. As another example, the name of the author of an article could be associated with his or her e-mail address. Then, the author's name would be hot in the e-Edition, enabling instant feedback from readers.
