Trend Micro Delivers Housecall Server Edition for ISPs and Enterprise E-commerce
Online threat detection and removal helps service providers and enterprises offer greater security for online customers while containing support costs
Cupertino, CA August 24, 2005 Trend Micro, Inc. (TSE: 4704, NASDAQ: TMIC), a leader in network antivirus and Internet content security software and services, today announced the availability of Trend Micro Housecall Server Edition v6.1, the latest version of Trend Micro online threat detection and removal software that enables service providers and enterprises to offer greater security for online customers while containing support costs.Trend Micro Housecall Server Edition v6.1 addresses the need for improved security caused by the growth in online banking, ecommerce, and other sensitive online activities. Delivered to consumers over the Web without the need for any pre-installed software, this tool helps reduce the risks of viruses, spyware, and keystroke loggers, malicious tools which contribute to identity theft or online fraud. The new version of Housecall adds detection and removal of spyware and adware, a Security Scan feature to identify missing security patches and other vulnerabilities, and a re-designed, more intuitive interface.
By hosting Housecall Server Edition from their Web sites, service providers can minimize support calls caused by malware and contain their malware-related support costs. Call center and support technicians can see diagnostic results remotely and identify vulnerabilities, whether or not PCs have antivirus or anti-spyware software installed. These benefits are especially significant for organizations with large customer or user bases, such as universities, banks, and government agencies.
As the threat of viruses and spyware grows, Trend Micro continues to innovate ways to make the Internet safer for organizations and their customers, said Raimund Genes, President of European Operations, and General Manager for Incubation Segment at Trend Micro. Online fraud has the potential to significantly damage Internet-based business and impact support costs of service providers. By providing easy-to-distribute security tools for service providers and enterprises, Trend Micro is helping to reduce potential damage and promote a world safe for digital information exchange.
Trend Micro Housecall has been providing online protection for computer users since its introduction in 1997.
