Cox High Speed Internet Service Hits Warp Speed
Cox Thanks Residential Customers with Huge Increases in Speed, Entices New Subscribers with Greater Value
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 10, 2004--Cox Communications today announced that it has increased the speeds of each package of its popular Cox High Speed Internet service. The company's flagship Cox High Speed Internet Preferred package now offers 4.0 Mbps per second of download speed (up from 3.0 Mbps) with 512 Kbps upload speed (up from 256 Kbps), making it the fastest broadband Internet service available for under $30 (Cox Combo bundle discount).
Last night the company 'flipped the switch' and significantly increased the speed of its Internet service for all residential customers, offering a substantial improvement to service with no increase in price.
Cox Communications began offering three different Internet service tiers last fall, introducing a "Premier" package with more speed and additional features, and an economical "Value" package targeted at customers concerned more with price than speed and features. With today's across-the-board speed increases, these three service levels offer more value than ever before. Customers may also continue to realize additional benefits and savings by bundling Cox High Speed Internet with video and telephony offerings; Cox rewards bundling with a $10 monthly savings on the Preferred and Premier Internet packages.

Cox is also launching a new marketing campaign, "Fast is Beautiful," to promote the faster-than-ever Cox High Speed Internet. Customers are also directed to fastisbeautiful.com, where they can interact with a special website that includes rich broadband content, detailed information on the service improvements and current package/price offers, and even ideas about how to put all of the extra speed to good use. The site also links to Cox.com for ordering and service upgrades.
Cox continues to emphasize the additional value that can be realized by bundling high-speed Internet with video and telephony offerings by offering $10 savings on the Preferred and Premier packages when customers also subscribe to Cox Cable, Cox Digital Cable and Cox Digital Telephone. However, the company stresses that its bundle is easier for customers to understand and offers greater value than its telephone company competitors. Cox is the only single provider offering Internet, video and telephony via one network, and Cox supports all of its services with one number to call for customer service and integrated billing.
